Another memory
I was standing next to this little girl who had one bare foot and one pink flip flop. (We were watching the other girls kick our teams butt in soccer.) Anyhow, I asked her where her other shoe was... she looked at me a little blankly then walked away. I figured I either scared her or bored her... but she came back a minute later with one of the older girls blue flip flops to finish watching the game with me. It made me happy so I painted her.

I remember seeing that little girl in your photos and wondering about the 2 different shoes. I REALLY like this painting. You do an amazing job!! I especially like when your subjects are people. Thanks for sharing your talent with us as well as your thoughts. Love you, Mom B
Kimmy, your painting is incredible!!
Last week I was at a show in downtown Orlando (http://www.galleryatavalonisland.com) and this guy, I think he name was Jon Miller (I've been searching the internet all morning to see if I could find his painting for you to see, but he doesn't have a website.), had paintings that were very similar to this one. They were mainly portraits, but they showed unexpected views of the subject. They all had stories behind them, and offered the viewer an experience or perspective that was unexpected and thought-provoking. He was really talented! I wish I could show you his work!
Anyway... all that to say, he's super talented and had his own show, and your piece reminds me of it so much...
which means.... YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR OWN SHOW! :) It would be pretty amazing! I'm blown away by your work!! This painting is gorgeous, and you did my VERY FAVORITE THING.... contrasting the organic form of the figure with the geometric forms of the circles. I love seeing that contrast! The texture is great, the colors are perfect...
especially the way the ill-fitting blue flip flop contrasts with the oranges of the background so that it becomes an unexpected focal point.
You're a rockstar! :)
(I exceeded the limit of the comment box, so I had to continue in a second comment. oops!) :)
also, I haven't forgotten about you. I will call soon. I was in Orlando for the past week and a half, and life has been a little crazy lately. love you, girl. talk to you soon! :)
